The Committee to Save Mt. Manresa hosted its 29th consecutive Saturday rally today at the entrance to the former Jesuit retreat at Fingerboard Road and Narrows Road North in Staten Island.

The Committee's goal is to see Mt. Manresa's rolling hills, old-growth trees, brick campus, chapel, and grotto be preserved as sorely-needed public parkland amid Staten Island's residential sprawl.

Nolan Scoffs at Efforts to Save Mt. Manresa

Rich Nolan, who chairs the board of endangered Jesuit retreat Mt. Manresa in Staten Island, dismissed a proposal by the Committee to Save Mt. Manresa to re-purpose the site as a conference center and park as "completely unrealistic."

The Committee's proposal, which projects annual revenues of up to 11.5 million, would require a $17.5 million start-up loan from the city.
