Public Hearing on Proposed Carroll Gardens Shelter

The Coalition for Carroll Gardens, in an email blast last week, announced that the city Department of Buildings, with no warning to local elected officials, has reinstated the previously-revoked building permits for a proposed mens' shelter in an empty condo building at 165 West 9th Street in Carroll Gardens.

Update from the Coalition for Carroll Gardens

Homeless housing profiteer Alan Lapes has requested an extension to reply to a list of objections and the proposed revocation by the city Department of Buildings of a permit for 165 West 9th Street in Carroll Gardens.

The permit allows Lapes to alter the ten-unit condo building for use as a 170-bed homeless shelter for men.
