In a political season, every weekend event becomes an opportunity for local pols to meet and greet in the street.

Among the candidates converging tomorrow, Saturday, October 12, on the 32nd Annual Brooklyn Columbus Day Parade in Bensonhurst will be City Council Member Vinnie Gentile, joined by the Bay Ridge Democrats.

The meetup is at 62nd Street and 18th Avenue at 1 PM.

Capital Fund Grant for GEC

At a presser on Friday, September 27 at 11 AM, Council Members Vinnie Gentile and Domenic Recchia will announce a $1,900,000 award of capital funds to the Guild for Exceptional Children.

GEC board president Anthony Cetta and executive director Paul Cassone will be on hand to accept the award.

The funds are earmarked for major renovations to GEC’s main adult facility at 260 68th Street in Bay

Eco-Dock Construction Underway

Construction on the Eco-Dock, which will provide the community with on-water access at Bay Ridge's 69th Street Pier, is due to begin next week.

The dock is scheduled to be afloat by Tuesday, September 3 and
construction should be completed by the end of September.

BAT Ferry Service Extended through January

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Council Member Vinnie Gentile today announced the extension of weekday ferry service between Sunset Park and Wall Street through January 31, 2014.

More Street Trash Pickups

Effective immediately, the city's Department of Sanitation, through a deal worked out with City Council Member Vinnie Gentile, City Council Finance Chair Dominic Recchia and other local elected representatives, will begin emptying trash bins four days a week on 3rd Avenue and non-BID sections of 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge and 13th Avenue in Dyker Heights.
