Authors Man Bookstore Registers on Small Business Saturday

If you're lucky, you might get rung up by your favorite author at the local indie bookstore on Small Business Saturday, November 30.

The event is called Indies First, a Small Business Saturday feature started by Sherman Alexie, one of my favorite authors.

Lemony Snickett at the Bookmark Shoppe

At 6:30 PM on October 15, the Bookmark Shoppe, at 8415 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge, will host Daniel Handler, author of the Lemony Snicket book series: A Series of Unfortunate Events, 13 Words and The Composer Is Dead.

Handler, who doubles as an accordian player, will release a CD of 13 "dreadful" songs from the Unfortunate Events series with friend and Magnetic Fields rocker Steven Merritt.
